Souvenirs From The Anthropocene
Souvenirs from the Anthropocene presents a world where the Earth, as we know it, is a distant memory and the Anthropocene has long surpassed its borders. A world where today’s cultural heritage is auctioned, serving as a curiosity for the interstellar human population. The souvenirs are in the custody of Astrum Antiques and Auction Agency (A.A.A.Astrum) - an auction house dealing with the cultural remains of the vacated Earth.
The displayed watch - lot #390 - is one of the artefacts available for sale during the Anthropocene Nostalgia: Timeless Watches from the Old Planet auction.
This project aims to broaden our understanding of the Anthropocene. It highlights the significance of space archeology in the era of growing commercial interest in space travel and opens discussions about the accessibility of space exploration, uneven distribution of culture and the future of human culture in space and on Earth.
